KAIZEN INSERTS
Easy to use!
Cutting Kaizen shouldn't be intimidating, it's a very easy foam to work with! Here's a video tutorial on how to cut Kaizen.
To start you're going to want to trace out your equipment with one of our fastcap kaizen foam markers. Depending on how snug you want the fit to be, you can either cut to the left or the right of the outline.
Then with a thin blade kaizen knife or a sharp knife of your choice, set the blade to how deep you want the cut out to be and then cut out your outline.
Peel out the foam by sticking your fingers underneath the cut out and then use your fingers as a sort of plow and peel it out at your desired layer.
First, I give it five stars for fitting my Apache 4800. It’s a perfect fit. The one star in the rating is simply for the fit of the foam inserts. I can’t give any better because the rest of it was a mess.
First, I was unable to Mark the foam. The long nose silver marker I received in the tool kit was dried out upon receipt. No color sharpie would leave a tracing mark that could be seen. I ended up using card stock to create a template of what I need to cut out and pen it to the foam tracing around it with the cutting tool.
Second, all those videos talking about the layers making it nice because you can simply remove the layers until you get down to the depth you want. I don’t know where that came from but that’s just not true. There are layers - yes. However, you cannot peel out a layer level. The bonding of the layers is as strong or stronger than the foam’s molecules. This means you’re just simply ripping into the foam across layers ending up with something that’s more like the surface of the moon rather than nice clean separation of a layer.
I’m a patient person with quite a bit of different skills. Skills and tools are not enough for this. It takes something industrial like a CNC table.
I wanted to use this to transport camera equipment. The end result was very unprofessional. I went to this because of pick and pluck, while it works, it’s not completely stable because it tends to come apart plus you can’t do depth adjustments. It’s all or nothing. I’m gonna go back to pick and pluck foam.
The Kaizen inserts for my Harbor Freight Apache 4800 case worked really well. I frequently remove the telemetry equipment from my sports car when I am not at the track and was looking for a more secure way to store them. This solution worked perfectly for my needs.
Don’t know where you got the measurements for the 4800 case but too big AND sloppily made. Uneven all the way around. Will take major trimming to get them to fit properly. Would cost me the original price for shipping to return but last time I buy from you. Would give ZERO stars if I could!!!
High quality foam, wish I bought the cut kit and took my time cutting it, will be buying more to upgrade my 9800 case and to redo my 4800 again.
